All-Abilities Sports Programs

As an extremely important part of our mission, we offer a range of sporting and associated activities across Northern NSW which aim to encourage participation for young people with disabilities. We started with a lad who has a debilitating disease, is wheelchair bound, but discovered that he could play Wheelchair Boccia. With our help, he has now developed this sport to the stage where he was a part of the train-on squad for the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

We now conduct Sports Days across the region and assist schools in the introduction of new sports. Over the last 5 years we have been assisting Biala Special School in Ballina by running sporting activities for their students. Our group set up and run various activities including soccer, cricket, basketball, golf and lawn bowls, together with swimming activities. Recently we purchased pickleball nets, bats and balls, new dodge balls and an indoor hockey set. This group also works with Cerebral Palsy Alliance, providing opportunities for these students in the sporting realm.

Equipment has been supplied to several schools throughout the NNSW area, and we continue to implement new programs. We also cover the costs associated with the sporting days that we organize.

Recently we conducted a Blind and Low Vision Sporting Day at East Lismore where participants enjoyed playing lawn bowls, tennis and other modified sports. By all reports it was a great day where new friendships were formed. We hope to put on this event again in the future so reach out to us on our Socials if you are interested.
